Our Mission

medical practice in order to achieve optimum patient care and to promote health nationally and internationally"
Promoting the Health of the Nation
The Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (RCPI) is Ireland’s largest postgraduate medical institution with a mission to develop and maintain high professional standards in medicine.
RCPI and its Faculties and Institute are recognised as training bodies by the Medical Council for 25 specialties and provide training and education opportunities to all physicians who have graduated from medical school. From a junior doctor in their first postgraduate training post through to a Senior Consultant who undertakes continuing medical education, RCPI delivers a wide range of training programmes, study days, masterclasses and academic meetings to ensure the very best in patient care. RCPI also conducts over fifty post-graduate examinations annually in Ireland and overseas. Through our awards and medals programme the College also recognise doctors who have distinguished themselves during their career.
As a respected expert body RCPI also seeks to promote health nationally and internationally, through our public meeting series, the work of our policy working groups, and our work with government departments and agencies.
