Introduction
The Membership of the Faculty of Public Health Medicine Part II examination is designed to test the ability of the candidate to apply their knowledge to one or more aspects of public health medicine chosen by the candidate, and to enable the candidate to display specialist skills. The examination consists of the assessment of written material which will take the form of a thesis or two reports on an original project or projects, and of an oral test on the subject of the written work, including its relevance to the practice of public health medicine. There is also a General Oral on topics relevant to the practice of public health medicine.

Revision of the Regulations in November 2006 has resulted in the following changes:
The main changes to the Part II Examination are that additional information is provided, especially with regard to the submission of two reports. In addition, three soft bound copies of Thesis are now required at each sitting.
