Governance of the Faculty
The Board of the Faculty consists of 12 persons, elected from each province of Ireland. The object of the Board is to pursue the mission of the Faculty on behalf of its members.
The function of the Board is to deal with all matters pertaining to paediatrics in Ireland, including training, membership applications, applications for the Register of Medical Specialists in the division of paediatrics, organising scientific meetings for consultants & trainees and to review & ratify decisions made by the committees of the Faculty.

Membership and Fellowship of the Faculty
The Faculty of Paediatrics offers Fellowship and Membership in different categories:
Full Members
Persons, who are in the bona fide practice of their specialty in Ireland are eligible for Fellowship. As are persons who have obtained their Certificate of Satisfactory Completion of Training in Paediatrics from the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland.
Persons holding Membership or Fellowship of other Royal Colleges, or Membership or Fellowship of other Faculties of Paediatrics, or equivalent qualifications recognised by the College in advance, and who are in the bona fide practice of their specialty, may on the unanimous recommendations of the Board of the Faculty, be considered by the College for admission to the Fellowship of the Faculty ad eundem.
Ordinarily such persons, resident in Ireland, shall have practised full time as paediatricians for a period of not less than five full years, excluding General Professional Training and be fully listed on the Medical Council or GMC Register of Medical Specialists in Paediatrics.

Associate Members
Medical practitioners who are in consultant posts in their field and whose work is largely devoted to the care of children may, on recommendation of the Board, be considered for Associate Membership of the Faculty.

Collegiate Members
Persons who who have been admitted as Members of the College and who have spent two years in paediatric training, on payment of an annual fee, shall be Collegiate Members of the Faculty.

Admission to Fellowhsip/Membership
The next Admission Ceremony for membership of the Faculty of Paediatrics will take place on Friday 8th October 2010
Applicants wishing to be included in the 2009 Admission Ceremony would need to submit their membership applications by 31st July 2010
