The Royal College of Physicians of Ireland is the oldest surviving medical institution in the country. It has a collection of paintings, silverware, artefacts, archive material and printed books which provide one of the most important resources for the history of medicine in Ireland. The aim of the Heritage Centre is to identify, develop and preserve these collections, and to promote the study of the history of medicine in Ireland.
The College’s Heritage Centre is housed within the architectural splendour of the College's magnificent home at No.6 Kildare Street
The Heritage Centre comprises Dun’s Library, the archive, the genealogical collections and the heritage items, which include portraits, silverware and medical artefacts. To find out more about these collections please follow the links above.

Adopt a Book Programme
The preservation and conservation of the Heritage Centre's unique collections is an ongoing challenge. To help meet the challenges in this area the Heritage Centre runs an Adopt a Book Programme which encourages individuals to sponsor the conservation of volume from Dun's Library. Online Book Shop
The Heritage Centre runs an online book shop, selling a small number of publications relating to the history of RCPI and the history of medicine in Ireland. More details can be found here.

The Heritage Centre is open for reader and research services Monday to Friday from 9.30a.m. to 1:00pm and 2:00pm to 4:30 p.m., by appointment only.
