
Heart rate as a risk factor in cardiovascular disease

This meeting focused on cardiovascular disease, which is the most relevant condition facing society in this country. The topic is of increasing importance to the health of the individual and to the health of the nation with significant financial and social implications. Efforts directed at understanding important novel aspects of these conditions are particularly appropriate and were discussed at the meeting.
