Election to Office of President Designate

On 18 October 2011, the term of the President of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland will come to an end.  To make arrangements for the election of a new President it is necessary to begin the process of President-Designate elections in 2010.      

Nominations are now being accepted for the position of President-Designate Any Fellow of the College who wishes to put their name forward for election for the position of President-Designate should meet the following conditions:

• Be resident in Ireland;

• Hold Fellowship in the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland for
   at least ten years; and

• Be in good standing.

Eligible Fellows should complete the Ballot for Election Form and submit it to the College by Friday, February 19 2010 if they wish their names to go forward for election. 

If more than three nominations are received, a ballot must be held to reduce the number of candidates. This balloting process usually takes place in March.  The three successful candidates will then be brought forward to a meeting of the Fellowship in June, where a ballot will take place to select the President-Designate.

If less than three nominations are received, the candidates will be brought forward to a meeting of the Fellowship in June where a ballot will take place to select the President-Designate.

The successful candidate will be confirmed at the Annual Stated Meeting on 18 October, 2010.
