RCPI Guidance on HCAIs for Healthcare Workers

At 9:30am on Tuesday, June 16 2009 at the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (RCPI), No 6 Kildare Street, Dublin 2, RCPI will hold a press briefing for all medical and health journalists.

This briefing is timed to coincide with the launch of the position paper on How to advise patients with a healthcare-associated infection - guidance for healthcare workers in dealing with patients and members of the public.

The press briefing will be attended by members of the RCPI Policy Group on HCAI - Prof. Hilary Humphreys, chair of the policy group and Professor of Clinical Microbiology at Beaumont Hospital Dublin, and Dr. Phil Jennings, Director of Public Health at the HSE. Both will discuss the practical steps that healthcare workers should follow when advising patients of HCAI, provide information on credible and accurate sources of information relating to a HCAI, and outline the main recommendations of the position paper.
