Denis Hickie announced as Chairperson of 'Controlling your Asthma – Facts to Take your Breath Away'

Former Irish rugby international and asthma sufferer, Denis Hickie will chair the public meeting 'Controlling your Asthma – Facts to Take your Breath Away' on Tuesday, Nov 11th, 2008 at 6.30pm in RCPI, No.6 Kildare Street, Dublin 2. 

The Royal College of Physicians of Ireland, in partnership with the Asthma Society of Ireland will host this public meeting which aims to provide clear and concise information on the management, control and prevention of asthma as well as addressing the social and behavioural attitudes towards asthma today. 

 

The meeting will include discussion on the prevalence of asthma and the impact of the condition, the types of asthma, alarming growth rates in Ireland, how to reduce the risk, prevention and treatment and relief options available. 


More than 470,000 people in Ireland suffer from this increasingly common and often debilitating condition. Poor control and a widespread lack of understanding about causes, treatment and symptom prevention continue to cause difficulties for those living with this condition.

This meeting is open to all members of the public and there is no charge for attendance. However, in order to cater for the expected numbers wishing to attend, members of the public are asked to apply for tickets by email to college@rcpi.ie or by telephone (01) 863 9700.
