College seeks to appoint Vice President for Education and Professional Development
12/12/2007
Following the acceptance of the recommendations of the Fottrell and Buttimer reports as Government Policy, the subsequent formation of an Education and Training function within the HSE; the imminent introduction of the Medical Practitioners Act and the

re-definition of roles and responsibilities for the HSE, Medical Council and Training Bodies – it is clear that fundamental change is occurring in the area of medical education and training throughout the continuum from undergraduate to intern to basic and higher specialist training and through to continuous professional development.

The Royal College of Physicians of Ireland is responding to these changes in a positive and proactive manner and is engaged in a wide range of initiatives within medical education and training. Central to the College’s response is the establishment of high quality medical leadership for the further enhancement of education and professional development.  To this end, the College has decided to appoint a Vice-President of Education and Professional Development. (link to detailed job spec)
