Please Read: Changes to '@physicians.ie' Email Service
18/05/2009
The RCPI @physicians.ie e-mail service will be upgraded at the end of May to Microsoft’s Live@Edu service.

Please note this only applies to current trainees of the College.

Changing to Live@Edu e-mail will not change how you access your e-mail. You will still go to the www.rcpi.ie website, login and the e-mail icon will take you to your online e-mail. A key reason for the transition to Live@Edu, is to provide the '@physicians.ie' e-mail address for life. So as alumni of the college, in the future, you will have e-mail access without needing to log into the RCPI site. Additional features of the service are outlined below.

This transition to Live@Edu will take less than an hour. But there are a number of issues:
1) E-mails, contacts and calendar items currently in your @physicians e-mail account, will NOT be saved so you must track this information offline if you wish to keep it.
2) Mail rules and forward information currently setup will need to be re-entered.
3) Any e-mails sent to you within the 1 hour window may need to be resent by the sender.

We would therefore ask you to do the following by Friday, 22nd of May:
1) Send any old e-mails that you may need to another e-mail address or print them for your records.
2) Contacts and calendar items should be opened individually and printed for your records.
3) Make a note of any rules or e-mail forward information you have made.

The upgrade to Microsoft Live@Edu service will provide the following functionality
1) E-Mail for life for all trainees, members, fellows and alumni of the College.
2) Microsoft Outlook Live Internet accessible e-mail with 10GB mail storage and a maximum of 20MB file attachments per mail.
3) Office Live Workspace allows Word and Excel documents to be created, saved and shared online.
4) Windows Live SkyDrive provides 25GB of online private or public storage for files, documents, images and presentations.
5) Microsoft SharedView allows your computer desktop to be shared with 15 other users for online presentations and collaborations.
6) Windows Live Spaces allows group spaces to be created for sharing documents, blogs and shared discussions.
