The Standing Committee consists of Members, namely the three Officers plus the Chair of the Speciality Training Committee and the Chair of the Examination and Hospital Recognition Committee and also one other Member of the Executive to be nominated by the Executive, or, at their request, by the Chair. This Committee meets regularly to conduct the ordinary business of the Institute, reporting to the Executive Council and holding office during the lifetime of the Council.
The Specialty Training Committee (STC) is a subcommittee of the Executive Council, whose remit is to advise the institute on training issues with regard to postgraduate training in obstetrics and gynaecology and to assist and advise the National Specialty Directors in some of their duties, with regard to:

The membership of the STC includes the National Specialty Director, who will take the position of chair, the Officers of the Institute and a selection of trainers, representing each region. A trainee representative normally sits on the STC. The Dean of Higher Medical Training or his/her nominee will normally attend.
The remit of the Hospital Recognitions Committee is to inspect and approve all posts for trainees. The Committee accredits training post and assures that the standards of training and infrastructure within the training institution are acceptable for trainees.
The remit Examinations Committee is to work with the Examinations Department of the College to organise and deliver the MRCPI obstetrics & Gynaecology exam and the Diploma in Women’s Health.
