Committees of the Faculty
The Specialty Training Committee is a subcommittee of the Board of Faculty, whose remit is to assist and advise the National Specialty Directors and Dean in some of their duties, in:

The membership of the STC includes the National Specialty Director, who will take the position of chair, the Dean, or his/her representative, and a selection of trainers, representing each region. A trainee representative normally sits on the STC. The Dean of Higher Medical Training or his/her nominee will normally attend.
The current Chair of the Specialty Training Committee is Dr. John Murphy, one of the National Specialty Directors.
The Community Paediatrics Subcommittee reviews policies and protocols for the practice of Community Child Health in Ireland. The subcommittee reports to the Faculty of Paediatrics at AGM and liaises with Board of Faculty with regard to national policy and provides feedback on developments. The subcommittee also includes peer review for clinicians working in child protection and addresses training needs and protocols pertaining to protection of children.
The current Chair of the Community Paediatrics Subcommittee is Dr. Jacqueline McBrien
The Register of Medical Specialists Committee consists of the Dean, Honorary Secretary and two members of the Board. The Dean chairs the committee. The remit of the RMS Committee is review policies and procedures associated with applications for the Register of Medical Specialists in the division of General Paediatrics, assess applications for the Register of Medical Specialists and make a recommendation to the Medical Council of Ireland.

The Clinical Advisory Group for Paediatrics was established in order to ensure professional support and input to the development of the clinical management guidelines. It operates under the Governance of the Faculty and its membership combines experts from relevant institutions and training bodies and includes the Chair, Prof Hilary Hoey, Dean of the Faculty of Paediatrics and the Clinical Lead for the Paediatric Programmes, Prof Alf Nicholson.
The CAG will ensure structured and formal professional involvement in and support for the programmes being developed. The Governance structure is based on the overall governance structure of the Clinical Care Programmes developed between the HSE and College.

The Neonatal Advisory Group for Paediatrics
In order to ensure professional support and input to the development of the Clinical Management Guidelines, the Faculty of Paediatrics has established a group of Clinicians working in Neonatology. The Neonatal Advisory Group will operate under the Governance of the Faculty and provide a vehicle for the Faculty and the relevant specialists in Neonatology to ensure structured and formal professional involvement in and support for the programmes being developed.
The Clinical Lead for Neonatology will liaise on an ongoing basis with this group as the clinical management guidelines are being developed by the working group. This group includes the Chair, Dr Martin White, Prof Hilary Hoey, Dean of the Faculty of Paediatrics and Clinical Lead for the Paediatric Programmes, Dr John Murphy
