Tuesday 29th April 2008
Organised in collaboration with:
The Faculty of Paediatrics
Obesity is now a worldwide epidemic. Levels of obesity are rising rapidly in Ireland. Childhood obesity has major implications for the child, the health service and the health of the nation. The issue should be tackled in the early years to stem the epidemic and promote a healthier future for our society.
Chaired by broadcaster Ray D'Arcy, this meeting outlined the facts and myths surrounding childhood obesity and looked at prevention and treatment. Speakers also discussed the role of physical activity and nutrition in addressing the problem.
