In the last seven years Ireland's population grew faster than in any other EU state and by 2011 it is estimated that 14 per cent of people living in Ireland will be aged 65 and over.
Like any demographic shift this change will present significant medical and societal challenges. This meeting aimed to address these societal trends and discuss important aspects of ageing in Ireland, how we can protect vulnerable older people and how we can age well and positively.
