Have you enrolled on a 2016/2017 Professional Competence Scheme?

The Professional Competence year runs from 1 May to 30 April

If you have not enrolled on a Professional Competence Scheme for 2016/2017, you must do so before Monday 1 May 2017.

This is the deadline to enrol for the first time, or to renew a previous enrolment for the 2016-2017 Professional Competence year.

After 23:59 on Sunday 30 April, it will no longer be possible to enrol on a Professional Competence Scheme for the 2016-2017 year.

Remember, if you hold Supervised, General or Specialist Registration with the Medical Council and are engaged in any form of practice in Ireland, you are required by law to maintain your Professional Competence with an accredited training body.

How to enrol

First, you need to decide whether you should enrol on a Specialist or General Division Scheme.

If you are on the Specialist Division of the Medical Council Register, simply choose a Scheme appropriate to your registered specialty.

If you are on the General or Supervised Division of the Medical Council Register and are practising in Ireland, choose a Scheme that suits your area of practice.

You will find application forms to enrol on Professional Competence Schemes here on our website
