PCS Absent from Practice

The Medical Council recognises that many doctors for various reasons may not practise medicine for a specific period of time. Leave from practice may have an impact on a doctor’s ability to meet the legal minimum professional competence requirements and this may then be reflected on a doctor’s annual statement of participation. Doctors are advised that where possible, some level of engagement in maintenance of competence should be maintained, however this may not always be feasible.
