Applications are now open for the €40,000 Research Grant in Traffic Medicine

Driver in car

The overarching aim of this Research Grant, now in its second year, is to support high quality research projects that develop and sustain research based guidelines that encompass all or one of our three main aims:

  1. To support medical professionals in their assessment of a drivers medical fitness
  2. To offer fresh thinking to national and international policy in this area
  3. To promote the public’s understanding of safe mobility by increasing their knowledge of health conditions that can affect their driving

Last years' winning project ‘Talking to patients with cognitive impairment about fitness to drive: Current approaches and possible improvement strategies for a general practice setting’ investigated driving with cognitive impairment. Its main purpose was to look at how patients with cognitive impairment and GPs manage the discussion around safe driving.

Opening date 16th May 2017.

Closing date Friday, 16th June 2017.
