Effective Teaching Skills

The Effective Teaching Skills Course will commence on Wednesday 14th March 2012 in the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland, No. 6 Kildare St. 

The Effective Teaching Skills course is available to all SpRs in Higher Specialist Training (HST) and is highly recommended to attend. The course consists of a one-day workshop and online modules which will cover topics such as bedside teaching, giving feedback, managing group learning and effective supervision.

The online modules and workshop cover the following topics:

• Bedside teaching
• Providing feedback
• teaching in a clinical setting
• How to plan and organise teaching sessions for large and small groups
• How to write objectives for a teaching session
• How to recognise some of the advantages and disadvantages of large and small   group teaching
• Managing small groups effectively
• Effective supervision

Registration
There is no fee for SpRs registered on the RCPI Higher Specialist Training Programme. There is a fee of €150 for Non Trainees.
