To achieve its mission the governance of the College is delegated by the Fellows to Council on an annual basis. Council is the most senior decision-making body of the College and provides Fellows with the opportunity to contribute to its strategic development through leadership, support and advocacy roles.
Council meetings are held six times a year in January, March, April, June, September and December. Attendance at Council meetings and the Annual Stated Meeting is mandatory. In addition, Council members are expected to carry out various duties, such as serving on committees, officiating at Fellowship Admission Ceremonies and events, providing input and expertise on strategic decisions, reports, publications and policy documents.
Nominations are now being accepted for the position of Junior Fellow on Council. The Registrar has sent correspondence to all Junior Fellows inviting them to put their names forward. To be eligible a Fellow should have held Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland for less than ten years and be in good standing with the College. The deadline for the return of nomination forms is Friday, 29 July 2011.
Should you have any questions regarding this process, or would like to express an interest in the role and submit a nomination form please contact the Registrar at +353 1 863 9763 or via email at registrar@rcpi.ie.
