As Specialist Registrars mature as future physicians, they develop the requisite knowledge, skills, behaviours, and attitudes to practice competently, but also are prepared to play active roles in identifying and resolving patient safety and quality problems. The overall aim of this half-day course is to facilitate the development of skills and knowledge involved in using audit to improve patient care.
The object of this training will be to assist in the conversion of audit projects into quality improvement projects. In order to achieve this, the course will provide basic introductory methodology for quality improvement and leadership skills drawing on experience.
Specifically, the course will focus on the following core topics:
• The basics of Quality Improvement
• Moving from audit to Quality Improvement
• Successful QI projects
