Dr Robin Chase has been the President of the Faculty of Occupational and Environmental Medicine, RACP, since 2010. Notable achievements in that time have been the development of the Realising the Health Benefits of Work policy statement and the successful consensus statement encompassing a very broad church of stakeholders in Australia and New Zealand. In 2011 he was the principle author of the College’s submission to the Australian government’s Asbestos Management Review. He has successfully fostered greater links with other organisations, both inside and outside the college, spanning both of those countries. He has spoken widely in Australia, New Zealand and at international conferences. In the meantime he continues to remain in clinical and advisory work in Adelaide and in Sydney as well as working as a Presiding Member of Medical Panels South Australia. His clinical practice focuses on occupational rehabilitation, pain management, musculoskeletal conditions and medico-legal work.

The Faculty of Occupational Medicine is the recognised training body for doctors practising in the specialty of occupational medicine in Ireland. It is a constituent body within the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland. Its aim is to promote the highest standard of health and wellbeing for those of working age; to advocate that occupational illness and disease be eliminated from workplaces; and, to speak as the authoritative voice for all issues relating to occupational medicine within the country.

Dr James Smiley was a founder Fellow of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine in 1976. He was a renowned occupational physician practising in Belfast.
