Inclusion and Belonging

Employee Voice and Participation

Employee voice is central to our WIDE approach. We believe meaningful and sustainable progress comes from listening to our people and involving them in shaping our culture, policies and priorities. Our committees, staff engagement forums and WIDE initiatives provide opportunities for colleagues across departments and grades to contribute their perspectives, experiences and ideas.

Throughout the year, colleagues also have opportunities to connect, learn from one another and increase awareness of different experiences and perspectives. We also create opportunities throughout the year for colleagues to connect, learn from one another and increase awareness of different experiences and perspectives. Activities include our annual Multicultural Potluck, Pride participation, disability inclusion film sessions, book clubs, parenting initiatives, and awareness programmes focused on neurodiversity, cultural diversity, wellbeing and inclusion.

Our annual WIDE Day further supports learning and engagement through a range of workshops and discussions on topics that matter to our people. These activities provide opportunities for learning, allyship, connection and shared understanding across RCPI and help inform our approach to WIDE.

Listening and Improving

We want our WIDE priorities to be informed by evidence as well as by the experiences of our people. We listen to employees through surveys, workshops, Townhalls, consultation activities and ongoing engagement. Feedback helps inform action planning, policy development, learning activities and continuous improvement.

Through our HR system, employees can voluntarily provide equality data across Ireland’s nine grounds of discrimination. This helps us to better understand the diversity of our workforce, identify areas where additional support or action may be needed and inform the continued development of our people practices. We are committed to continuing to improve how we listen, measure progress and use what we learn to take meaningful action.

Our People

The best way to understand our culture is to hear from the people who experience it.
