Staff WIDE Day 2026

Throughout 2025-2026, RCPI continued to advance its commitment to wellbeing, inclusion, diversity and equality through its WIDE programme. Aligned with the RCPI's Strategic Plan 2025-2029, WIDE brings together initiatives that support an inclusive, respectful and supportive culture for staff, trainees, learners, members and fellows. Key developments during the year included enhancing policies and practices, strengthening staff engagement and voice, and expanding learning and awareness initiatives across the organisation.

As part of our commitment to supporting staff wellbeing and fostering a positive workplace culture, RCPI hosted a dedicated staff WIDE day in May 2026, bringing colleagues together to learn, connect and take time to focus on their personal wellbeing. The event offered staff the opportunity to step away from their daily routines, engage with colleagues from across the organisation and participate in a range of activities designed to support physical, mental and emotional wellbeing.

The day began with a guided breathwork session, helping staff start the morning feeling calmer, more grounded and better equipped to manage the demands of work and everyday life. Throughout the day, colleagues could choose from a variety of workshops covering topics such as resilience, happiness and wellbeing, sleep health, yoga and life design. Sessions were delivered by experienced wellbeing practitioners and healthcare professionals, providing evidence-based advice and practical techniques that staff could incorporate into their daily lives.

A strong focus on inclusion was reflected in a workshop on neurodiversity in the workplace, which explored how greater understanding and awareness can help create an environment where everyone can thrive. The programme also encouraged reflection on personal goals and aspirations through interactive activities designed to help participants identify what matters most to them and develop positive habits for the future.

Beyond the formal workshops, the WIDE day created valuable opportunities for colleagues to connect socially, strengthen relationships and celebrate the importance of wellbeing, inclusion, diversity and equality as part of RCPI's culture. Relaxation and games spaces, team challenges and shared experiences helped foster a sense of community and belonging. The event demonstrated RCPI's ongoing commitment to creating a supportive, inclusive and healthy workplace where staff are empowered to flourish both professionally and personally.
