We are pleased to announce that registration for the Continuous Professional Development Support Scheme (CPD-SS) for academic year 2025-26 will open on Monday 14 July 2025.

How to Apply ?

 If you do not already have an RCPI account, you must create one before applying.

  1. Click the blue ‘My Account’ button in the top right corner.
  2. Select ‘Create an Account’ and follow the instructions.
  3. Once registered, return to this page and click the Apply button below.

Who can Apply - Eligibility Requirements ?

The Continuous Professional Development Support Scheme (CPD-SS) is an educational programme open to all NCHDs working in the public health service who are:

  • Not enrolled in an intern training programme, or on a specialist training programme under any of the Irish postgraduate training bodies such as BST, HST or international.
  • Working in the public health service and hold a 2010 NCHD contract within the HSE. Please note: 2010 refers to an amendment in Irish law relating to the employment of NCHDs. It does not relate to the commencement of your contract. If you are unsure about your contract type please contact Medical Manpower before applying to CPD-SS. 
  • Registered on the General or Supervised Division of the Register of Medical Practitioners maintained by the Medical Council.
  • Enrolled on a Professional Competence Scheme applicable to your specialty.
  • Registered and have paid your Professional Competence Scheme subscription. Click here to enrol on a Professional Competence Scheme

About the Continuous Professional Development Support Scheme (CPD-SS)

The CPD-SS is funded by the HSE and coordinated by RCPI. It supports NCHDs in fulfilling their Professional Competence Scheme requirements by providing access to:

  • Up to 20 external CPD credits per year.
  • A wide range of high quality clinical and professional education.
  • Learning opportunites offered through RCPI and other Irish Postgraduate Medical Training bodies.

Enrolment is free of charge.

We kindly ask that only candidates who meet the eligibility requirements submit an application. Please review the criteria carefully to ensure you qualify.
