Enrol on a Professional Competence Scheme

 

Faculty of Paediatrics General Division

 

Overview

The Faculty of Paediatrics General Division Professional Competence Scheme is open to doctors who are on the General or Supervised Division of the Irish Medical Council register and hold one of the following qualifications:

  • Membership of the Faculty of Paediatrics, RCPI
  • Fellowship of the Faculty of Paediatrics, RCPI
  • Membership of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (MRCPI)
  • Membership of the Royal College of Physicians, UK
  • Membership of the Royal College of Paediatrics & Child Health (MRCPCH)
  • Diploma in Child Health, RCPI/RCSI (DCH)

If you are on the General or Supervised Division and do not meet the entry requirements for this scheme, you can enrol on the Institute of Medicine General Division Professional Competence Scheme.

If you are on the Specialist Division, you should enrol on a Specialist Division Professional Competence Scheme.

Were you enrolled in 2021-2022?

If you were enrolled on a Professional Competence Scheme during 2021-2022, you don’t need to complete another application for 2022-2023. You are, however, required to renew your enrolment each year.

Ready to Apply?

You will be asked to log into our website. If you already have an RCPI user name and password, you should log in using those credentials. Please do not create a new account for our website if you already have an existing account with us.

Enrolment fee

The enrolment fee for a Professional Competence Scheme is €250. If you pay an annual subscription for RCPI or one of our faculties, and it is up to date, you will be entitled to a discount. The method of payment is Visa or Mastercard, payable at the end of the online application process.

3D secure on credit card payments in Europe: It is now a requirement that your city and postcode (Eircode) are contained in an address. When completing your application, please make sure you have entered your full address and postcode before you proceed through to payment of your enrolment fee. Check your Eircode here

Direct Debit: If you choose this method, it is important that you complete the application form as far as the payment stage, and then email professionalcompetence@rcpi.ie to notify us you have submitted a direct debit. We will then be able to complete the last step of the application for you. Click this link to submit a direct debit mandate.

 

 

What Happens After I Enrol?

Receipts: When you make an online payment, you will be sent an automated receipt. If you do not see your receipt in your inbox, check your spam or junk folder.

ePortfolio: Once your enrolment is complete, we will set up your ePortfolio for Professional Competence and send you instructions on how to use it to record and monitor your progress throughout the year.
