Elections 2026: RCPI President-Designate and Ordinary Councillors

Voting is now open


Voting is now open for the election of the RCPI President-Designate and four Ordinary Councillor positions on RCPI Council. 

The ballot closes at 12 noon (GMT) on Friday, 3 July 2026. Fellows of the College in good standing are eligible to vote.

Candidates


President-Designate

The following five Fellows have put themselves forward for election to the position of President-Designate:

  • Prof. Áine Carroll
  • Prof. Rónán Collins
  • Prof. Mary Higgins
  • Prof. Michael Keane
  • Prof. Anthony O’Regan

Ordinary Councillors (Medicine)

The following four Fellows have put themselves forward for election to the three Ordinary Councillor (Medicine) positions:

  • Dr Declan Byrne
  • Dr Sean Fleming
  • Prof. Derek O’Keeffe
  • Dr Ash Tahilyani

Ordinary Councillors (Occupational Medicine)

The following Fellow has put himself forward for the one Ordinary Councillor (Occupational Medicine) position and is therefore deemed elected:

  • Dr Tom O’Connell

How to vote

The election of the President-Designate and Ordinary Councillors is determined by a vote of College Fellows under the College By-Laws.

Civica Election Services (CES) is administering the online election on behalf of RCPI. All eligible Fellows will receive an email containing a unique link to the online ballot.
