Celebrating 100 Years of Female Fellows

This year marks a significant milestone in the history of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland. The College is celebrating 100 years since Dr Mary Hearn was admitted as the first female Fellow, a landmark moment for the College and for medicine globally.

Since then, more than 700 female Fellows have been recognised for their substantial contributions to medicine. Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland is the highest honour that the College can bestow, and it is a remarkable achievement in a doctor's career.

To mark this special milestone, the College will be highlighting the stories, achievements and impact of our female Fellows throughout the year. A series of events will be hosted to honour and celebrate female Fellows and to remember the 100th anniversary of welcoming the very first female Fellow of the College.

The College is inviting female Fellows to participate in a short survey that aims to gather insights and build a comprehensive understanding of the evolution of women's roles within the College and the broader medical field over the past century.
