Explore your future in specialist training at RCPI's Intern Open Day 2025

Following the success of last year’s event, the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (RCPI) is delighted to once again open the doors of No. 6 Kildare Street for the RCPI Intern Open Day 2025. This full-day event, designed specifically for current medical interns considering applying for one of RCPI’s Basic Specialist Training (BST) programmes, will take place on Saturday, 30 August 2025. The event will be delivered in a hybrid format, offering participants the flexibility to join in person at No. 6 Kildare Street or attend virtually.

The day will begin with “The Ultimate Survival Guide to Internship”, a series of practical and engaging sessions delivered by experienced RCPI trainers. These talks will focus on how to approach common clinical scenarios, helping interns build confidence and clinical reasoning skills early in their careers.

In the afternoon, attendees will receive expert advice on completing applications for RCPI’s BST programmes and get a comprehensive overview of the training structure and requirements.

Interns will also hear from the Deans and Directors of Education & Training representing each RCPI BST programme:

  • General Internal Medicine
  • General Paediatrics
  • Obstetrics and Gynaecology
  • Histopathology

Information on BST pathways into Public Health and Occupational Medicine will also be provided.

The day will conclude with a networking reception, where interns can connect with senior trainers and current BST doctors.
