Institute of Medicine confers new generation of doctors across 14 specialties

The Institute of Medicine at the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland marked a proud moment on 20 June as 92 doctors were formally awarded their Certificates of Satisfactory Completion of Specialist Training (CSCST) across 14 specialties.

The celebratory ceremony, held in RCPI's historic home at No. 6 Kildare Street in Dublin, marked a significant milestone in the careers of these new specialists.

The ceremony also celebrated the achievements of the institute's international community, with five doctors from the International Clinical Fellowship Programme receiving certificates of achievement.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr Diarmuid O'Shea, President of RCPI, said: "Your certificate is a well-deserved and hard-earned reward after years of dedication to developing your skills and expertise in your chosen specialty. It is a benchmark of professional excellence - a real career milestone."

"Your CSCST enables you to weave yourself and your story into the fabric of this college. You are now a custodian of what the college was, an ambassador for what the college is, and an architect of what the college will do," Dr O'Shea continued.

The Certificates of Satisfactory Completion of Specialist Training (CSCST) is awarded upon completion of 4-6 years in a Higher Specialist Training programme and marks the culmination of a journey that for many doctors began at least 12 years ago, when they first embarked on their medical studies
