Join us for Culture Night at the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland

The Royal College of Physicians of Ireland will once again open the doors of the college at No. 6 Kildare Street as part of Culture Night on Friday, 19 September 2025. Culture Night / Oíche Chultúir is a national moment, celebrating all that makes up the richness and diversity of culture in Ireland today, connecting people to cultural activities locally and nationally, and aims to open up pathways to ongoing engagement.

We look forward to welcoming the public to explore the rooms of our historic home at No. 6 Kildare Street from 4 - 9 pm. Staff and volunteers will be on hand to share stories and information about the college and the building. You can visit our new exhibition, Homesick: Domestic Medicine in Ireland, c.1760-1900, exploring how historically healthcare was delivered in the home. The exhibition highlights the active role of women in delivering medical care in middle and upper-class homes in Ireland between c.1760-1900, and how they were often the intended market for those selling treatments and remedies - from the conventional to the unusual. This somewhat hidden history reminds us how important homes, and the people in them, have always been in looking after our health.

You can also explore some of the objects, archives, and books that form part of RCPI’s unique heritage collections. To make the evening more special, we will have a special performance by the Dawson Chorus, one of Dublin’s newest pop choirs. They have performed songs by Lady Gaga, Lewis Capaldi, Coldplay, Chappell Roan, Dua Lipa, Madonna, Amy Winehouse, The Corrs, and many more. They will be performing on the night, from 6.45 pm to 7.35 pm. Our open house and the performance are completely free, and no booking is required.

There's nothing quite like No. 6 at night.
