RCPI Council Elections

The Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (RCPI) is holding an election this year to elect five fellows to RCPI Council including two from Medicine, one from Public Health Medicine, one from Pathology, and one from Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
The following candidates have put themselves forward for election:
Medicine
The following Fellows (7) have put themselves forward for the 2 Ordinary Councillor (Medicine) positions:
- Professor Rónán Collins
- Professor Orla Crosbie
- Dr Weam Helmy Elnazer
- Professor Tim Lynch
- Professor Derek O’Keeffe
- Dr Mohammad Saleem
- Dr Ashok Tahilyani
Obstetrics and Gynaecology
The following Fellows (4) have put themselves forward for the 1 Ordinary Councillor (Obstetrics and Gynaecology) position:
- Associate Professor Vaidyanathan Gowri
- Professor Keelin O’Donoghue
- Dr Vimla Sharma
- Dr Nagaveni Yuddandi
Pathology
The following Fellow (1) has put himself forward for the 1 Ordinary Councillor (Pathology) position and is deemed elected:
As the sole nominee for the role of Ordinary Councillor (Pathology), Dr Farrell is deemed elected and will take up the role in October 2025.
Public Health Medicine
The following Fellows (3) have put themselves forward for the 1 Ordinary Councillor (Public Health Medicine) position:
- Professor Mairin Boland
- Dr Louise Hendrick
- Dr Jennifer Martin
The ballot closed on Wednesday, 2 July 2025 at 12:00 PM (GMT). The results will be published once available.

Council is the governing body of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland. It sets our mission, vision and strategic direction, and approves general policies.
