RCPI launches Strategic Plan 2025-2029

The Royal College of Physicians of Ireland today launched Strategic Plan: 2025-2029, a detailed roadmap to enhance and maintain our position as a world-leading postgraduate medical training body.

The strategic plan was launched during a joint Council and Executive meeting at the college’s heritage home, No. 6 Kildare Street.

Building on our 400-year tradition as progressive medical educators and healthcare leaders, we remain committed to excellence, continuously enhancing the experience of our learners, trainees, members, fellows and staff in all our activities.

This strategy strengthens that commitment to deliver the highest standards of postgraduate medical training and education, incorporating the lived experience of patients to improve quality and safety in healthcare delivery and adopting an innovative approach to navigate present and future challenges.

Our sincere thanks to the strategy steering group. With representation from our trainees, members, fellows and staff, the committee has worked diligently to reflect the needs of our diverse membership to ensure the enduring impact of our strategy. Thanks also to the external stakeholders and patient representatives who took the time to meet with us to inform strategy development.

Building on our previous three-year strategy, Strategic Plan: 2025-2029 will focus on four strategic principles: Retention and Engagement, Continuous Learning, Professionalism and Leadership, Innovation and Excellence.

We will be guided by our corporate priorities of Collaboration and Transformation, Regional Alignment, Professional Excellence through Enhanced Quality and Environmental, and Social and Governance Commitment.
