RCPI Signs Strategic Partnership with Burjeel Holdings to Advance Medical Education
The Royal College of Physicians of Ireland signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Burjeel Holdings on 11 February in Dubai during the World Health Expo. The strategic partnership will expand access to the highest quality postgraduate medical education and assessment in the United Arab Emirates.
The partnership reflects a shared commitment to advancing clinical excellence and supporting the development of a highly skilled healthcare workforce across the region.
Sinéad Lucey, RCPI Director of Business Development and Examinations, said the partnership is a significant milestone that reinforces the college’s commitment to advancing global health.
“This collaboration with Burjeel Holdings represents an important step in expanding access to high-quality postgraduate medical education in the region. Through examinations, training programs, and shared expertise, we look forward to supporting clinicians in their professional development and contributing to improved healthcare outcomes," she said.
Dr Tahani Alqadiri, Group Director of Emiratisation and Academics at Burjeel Holdings, welcomed the collaboration, noting its importance in expanding high‑quality training pathways.
“These partnerships reflect Burjeel Holdings’ long-term commitment to developing a highly skilled healthcare workforce through world-class education, structured training, and meaningful academic collaboration,” she said.
“By working closely with globally respected institutions and leading universities, we are creating pathways that benefit trainees, faculty, and healthcare professionals, while strengthening clinical excellence across our network.”
Strengthening Medical Education and Training
The MoU between RCPI and Burjeel Holdings establishes a framework for cooperation across several key areas, including:
- Professional development and continuous medical education
- Delivery of RCPI examinations in Abu Dhabi
- Access to structured training programmes
- Academic and clinical exchange opportunities for residents and fellows
As part of the agreement, Burjeel Holdings will provide suitable facilities within Abu Dhabi to support RCPI examination activities. The partnership will also expand access to accredited continuous education programmes for healthcare professionals across the Burjeel network.
This collaboration aligns with RCPI’s mission to promote excellence in global patient care through high‑quality training, assessment, and lifelong learning for physicians worldwide.
The visit was also an opportunity to connect with Ambassador for Ireland to the UAE, Alison Milton, reinforcing our shared commitment to healthcare in the region.
