The Royal College of Physicians of Ireland welcomes the decision by the General Medical Council in the UK to add the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland Membership Examinations to their list of acceptable Postgraduate Qualifications.
This decision means that International Medical Graduates can apply for full registration with a licence to practise in the UK if they hold a postgraduate qualification from the list below:
Welcoming the decision, RCPI President, Prof Mary Horgan said: “This is a significant development that widens the training and employment opportunities for doctors who have achieved our postgraduate qualification.
“Our college has always had strong links and excellent collaborative relationships with our colleagues in the UK. This is further recognition of the high esteem that our membership exams are held in as a mark of attaining high quality medical training” Prof Horgan said.
