Trainers play a crucial role in the delivery of our Basic and Higher Specialist Training programmes. They guide Trainees along the path to becoming a specialist and help the next generation of medical leaders reach their full potential.
As an RCPI Trainer, you have access to motivated, highly-skilled Trainees who have been successfully appointed following a competitive process. These are Trainees who will contribute to a high quality service.
We will provide you with advice, training and support through our Physicians as Trainers educational programme.
We welcome applications to become an RCPI Trainer. First, check that you meet the following criteria:
Once your online application is approved you will be required to complete the RCPI Physicians as Trainers Essential Skills course. You will not be an approved RCPI Trainer until you have completed this course.

The Tenure of Office for RCPI trainers is five years. You will be asked to provide updated contact details every five years.
Complete an application to become an RCPI Trainer now. The application process is the same whether you supervise Trainees in Basic Specialist Training or Higher Specialist Training.
We offer a wide range of Physicians as Trainers workshops and online courses that support skills development in the areas of medical training, coaching, educational development and career development. Most of these courses are free of charge.
