National Bronchoscopy Quality Improvement Programme

Drawing on the experiences and successes of current NSQI programmes run by RCPI, respiratory clinicians proposed to set up a National Bronchoscopy Quality Improvement (NBQI) Programme to ensure the highest standards of patient care are both measured and achieved.

Programme Overview

A new programme for Bronchoscopy is being established as the fourth NSQI programme. The established programmes have evolved over time, publishing annual national data reports which detail a series of specialty specific key quality indicators, the associated targets and display hospitals QI data against national aggregate data. The programme's work will focus on facilitating QI in public, voluntary and private hospitals to drive improvements in patient care.

The central goal of the new National Bronchoscopy QI Programme, similarly to the other NSQI programmes, is to improve transparency and confidence in bronchoscopy services in Ireland, to enhance patient safety and improve patient centred care through the publication of agreed key quality indicators (KQIs) pertaining to good quality bronchoscopy practice.
