Additional Funded Post in Education available!

The Institute of Medicine is delighted to announce we have received funding for an additional post on the Irish Clinician Educator Track (ICET) for July 2024 commencement. This additional post is based in University Hospital Waterford.

Programme details:

ICET is a National Programme developed to provide training in Postgraduate Clinical Education and it is open to Specialist Registrars who are eligible for Out of Clinical Programme Experience (OCPE) in alignment with RCPI regulation for OCPE.

The 2-year programme, starting in July 2024, is open only to Trainees of the Institute of Medicine, with a plan to expand to other programmes in RCPI in the future.

The aim of the programme is to support the training and professional development of future leaders in Postgraduate Clinical Education in Ireland. 

Job Specification:

The 2024 ICET programme has an additional 2-year post that will be primarily based in University Hospital Waterford. There are specific requirements that will be integrated with the RCPI ICET teaching programme including assigned teaching hours as an IoM Tutor. Trainees will be expected to complete research projects in the areas of medical education and/or quality improvement to the level of a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree.

In order to be eligible to apply for the ICET programme, candidates must:

  • Be enrolled in a Higher Specialist Training (HST) programme with RCPI.
  • Be entering the second last or final year of training in July 2024.
  • Have a good training record with appropriate sign-off at the last evaluation.
  • Not be in conflict with previously arranged programme commitments.
  • Discuss any intended changes to time spent out of programme with the relevant NSD.

  • 2 Referees who will provide a written reference by the interview stage
