RCPI Events Recognised as Official Associated Events of Ireland’s EU Presidency
I am delighted to share that a number of Royal College of Physicians of Ireland conferences and scientific meetings have been approved as official Associated Events of Ireland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union. This recognition places RCPI and our faculties and institutes at the heart of an important EU programme that will bring policymakers, clinicians, researchers and healthcare leaders together from across Europe.
Ireland’s Presidency will focus on strengthening population health and wellbeing as a cornerstone of Europe’s security, resilience and competitiveness. Key themes include public health, prevention, health equity, digital health, medical innovation, workforce resilience and preparedness for future health challenges.
The approval of our events is a significant endorsement of the contribution that RCPI makes to healthcare, medical education and public policy. It reflects the strength of our faculties and institutes, the quality of our scientific programmes, and the role our members and fellows play in shaping healthcare in Ireland and internationally. It also showcases our activities to an EU wide audience of policymakers.
The approved associated events span a range of specialties and health priorities, including public health, paediatrics, occupational medicine, women’s health, internal medicine and our flagship Annual Conference. These meetings will provide opportunities to showcase Irish and European expertise, foster collaboration across borders and contribute to discussions on some of the most pressing health challenges facing Europe today.
Particularly encouraging is the alignment between our programme and the broader Presidency agenda. Topics such as prevention, population health, healthy workplaces, child health, women’s health, health system resilience and innovation are all areas where RCPI Members and Fellows continue to provide leadership and expertise.
The recognition also provides an opportunity to raise the profile of Irish medicine on a European stage and to demonstrate the important contribution doctors make to improving health outcomes, informing public policy and advancing patient care. Our events will help extend the reach of Presidency discussions beyond formal governmental settings and ensure that the voices of clinicians, researchers and healthcare professionals are part of the conversation.
Over the coming months, we look forward to welcoming colleagues from Ireland and across Europe to these events and to playing our part in supporting a successful Irish EU Presidency. Together, we have an opportunity to contribute to a healthier, more resilient Europe and to showcase the excellence of Irish medicine on the European stage.
