Fellowship and Membership

Are you an experienced, ambitious Public Health Specialist? Membership and Fellowship of the Faculty of Public Health Medicine lets you play an important role in the governance and future direction of your professional body. There are several ways to join our Faculty - Fellowship, Membership and Diplomate Membership. All these options are discussed below.

Become a Fellow

By becoming a Fellow of the Faulty of Public Health Medicine, you can promote and develop the specialty by acting in an advisory capacity to Government and statutory bodies; acting as a vital source of information for media, the general public and other medical professionals; developing and delivering postgraduate training programmes; setting the standards in the Membership of the Faculty of Public Health Medicine examinations; and developing and delivering Professional Competence Schemes.

How to Apply for Fellowship

To become a Fellow of the Faculty of Public Health Medicine you must:

  • have been a Member of the Faculty for at least four years (Fellowship by Election), be in good standing and participating in Continuing Professional Development
  • or hold an equivalent Fellowship or qualification (Fellowship Ad Eundum)

Once we're satisfied that you are eligible to apply for Fellowship, we will send you the necessary forms to complete. 

From 1 July 2023, persons may be admitted as Fellows of Royal College of Physicians of Ireland and aligned to the Faculty of Public Health Medicine when they meet the criteria set out in College Bylaws and supporting policies, they will be recognised as Fellows of the Faculty and will be entitled to the rights and privileges as outlined in these standing orders.

Become a Member

If you have passed both parts of the Membership of the Faculty of Public Health Medicine, Ireland (MFPHMI) exam or hold an equivalent qualification, you can become a Member of the Faculty.

  • have passed both parts of the Membership of the Faculty of Public Health (MFPHMI) examination or have an equivalent qualification

Diplomat members
 

Become a Diplomate Member

If you have passed Part I of the Membership of the Faculty of Public Health Medicine (MFPHMI) exam, you can become a Diplomate Member of the Faculty.

As a Diplomate Member of the Faculty of Public Health Medicine, you will enjoy a wide range of membership benefits.

To become a Diplomate Member of the Faculty of Public Health Medicine you must:

  • have passed Part I of the Membership of the Faculty of Public Health (MFPHMI) examination or Part A MFPH (UK)
