The next MRCPI GM Part I Written examination will take place on 11 December 2025. The applications closed on 22 October 2025 at 5pm Irish time.
Verifications are usually completed up to two weeks after the closing date for applications and candidates will also receive further instructions in approximately 10 days before the exam date.
Additional note for candidates taking the exam from India
If you are sitting your examination within India there is a requirement to pay an 18% Indian Goods and Services Tax (GST). This is not a charge imposed by the College but a legal requirement for educational and examination related services conducted in India. This tax applies only to candidates sitting their examinations in India. Once the application is submitted by the candidate and verified by RCPI, these candidates will be contacted by the RCPI Exams Department and requested to pay the 18% tax. The tax must be paid within 7 working days of this request. Failure to do so will result in the cancellation of the exam place and the application will be withdrawn. GM Part I Written is held online, via remote invigilation. Candidates may sit the exam anywhere in the world, provided they have a reliable internet connection. Click here for more details please click here.

Changes to Examinations Cancellation Policy (re Deferrals)
26 August 2025
The timeline for submission of deferrals requests and payments will change from August 2025. This policy adaptation will ensure the Examinations Department continue to manage the increased number of deferrals efficiently.
This policy update is applicable for examination applications opening after the 25 August 2025, find the Cancellation Policy on this page.
All examination deferral requests must be submitted no later than seven working days before the examination date. A non-refundable administrative fee of €100 continues to apply. By submitting a deferral request and paying the fee, candidates will be removed from the registration list for the current examination. The administrative fee must be paid within seven working days of submitting the deferral request.
If you need to request a late deferral and/or a deferral fee waiver, due to extenuating circumstances you must do so in writing to the Examinations Operations Manager to exams@rcpi.ie . Please reference the full policy before submitting the request.
Next sitting will be in April 2026. The application will open on 7 January 2026.
