MFPHMI Part II

Summary

Part II is the second exam towards achieving MFPHMI, an internationally recognised benchmark of excellence, valued by healthcare employers worldwide.

If you've chosen Public Health Medicine as a career path, you need expert knowledge of health protection, health service development and health improvement.

Exam Structure

The MFPHM Part II exam consists of an oral assessment of two Public Health Reports.

Your Public Health Reports (PHR) must show that you have developed and applied a range of competencies from those outlined in the Curriculim for Higher Specialist Training in PH Medicine. You must demonstrate that you can critically study an epidemiological or public health question, carry out in-depth investigations of the issues and propose appropriate solutions.

The word count limit for each report is 10,000 words. Both public health reports will be examined in an oral examination. The two reports may be submitted and examined either at one (the same) sitting or at two different sittings. As of December 2022, both reports need to be submitted as soft copies only.

There is a limit of three attempts at the Part II examination (Part IIA and Part IIB PHRs), irrespective of the number of the reports (PHRs) submitted for examination at one attempt/sitting. A Public Health Report that is passed on one attempt may be 'banked' for future sittings.

For more information about the assessment of Public Health Reports (PHRs), please refer to the Section "Information and Resources".
