What Happens to Historical Data?

In line with the GDPR principle of ‘storage limitation’, we are obliged to ensure that personal data is stored only for as long as is necessary for the purposes for which the personal data was collected.

How does GDPR impact professional competence?

The permitted storage period in RCPI ePortfolio has been set at six years because the Medical Council has advised that retention of PCS data is only required for the current and previous five years.

Each year we will contact doctors who have ePortfolio records that fall into the date range for deletion. For example, in 2020-2021, all data relating to 2013-2014 was permanently removed, and in 2022-2023, all data up to 2015-2016 will be removed.
