Professional Competence Annual Statements: ePortfolio deadline is 10 May 2021

The deadline for recording your CPD for 2021 is approaching.

Our ePortfolio for Professional Competence will be closed from noon on Monday 10 May 2021 until 13 May 2021 as we generate Annual Statements of Participation for the 2020 – 2021 professional competence year.

If you have participated in CPD activities during the 2020/21 Scheme year and wish to have these activities reflected in the Annual Statement issued to you in May 2021, please record your activities in ePortfolio before 12:00 noon on 10 May 2021. Uploading of evidence is not required for your statement. If you need any help with this, please email

Statements will be issued the week beginning 13 May 2021 and we will notify you when they are available to view/download in ePortfolio. Annual Statements will be annotated to indicate that there are extenuating circumstances which prevented doctors from engaging in and recording the required CPD activities for the 2020/21 Scheme year.

From 19 May onwards, if you have renewed your enrolment for 2021-2022, you can enter your Personal Development Plan for the coming year and begin recording your CPD and Audit or Quality Improvement activities.

What you need to record

The Professional Competence year ends on 30 April 2021.  Due to COVID-19, the Medical Council has stated that doctors are required to record 25 CPD Credits in any category.  There is no requirement to record a Clinical Audit/Quality Improvement Project for the 2020-2021 year.

The Medical Council has asked us to stress that whilst there is a reduction in CPD requirements during the current year due to COVID-19, this does not exempt doctors from engaging in CPD and the recording of 25 CPD of credits in any category remains mandatory.

Doctors will be asked to make a declaration about their maintenance of professional competence when retaining their registration with the Medical Council in May/June 2021.

The Medical Council website has been updated to reflect the latest guidance regarding maintenance of Professional Competence.
