Call for Abstracts
The Faculty of Public Health Medicine at the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland is seeking submission of abstracts.
The Faculty of Public Health Medicine at the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland is now seeking submission of abstracts for consideration as oral or poster presentations for this year's Summer Scientific Meeting.
This year's meeting takes place on 30 and 31 May 2018 at RCPI, No. 6 Kildare St, Dublin 2.
Both scientific papers and discussion papers are welcome. The reviewing and scoring process is anonymous.
Abstracts are scored under 3 headings:
Educational value/Relevance to Public Health
Likely impact/interest to audience
Information for authors
The abstract should be of the informative type, containing 4 (four) paragraphs but without any subtitles or paragraph headings
Specify the purpose of the study and include a brief background statement
Outline the methods used, for example study design, study population, statistical test(s)
Summarise the results of the study and key statistical data, including response rate
Outline the main implication(s) of the study. It is not satisfactory, for example, to state: “results will be discussed"
If the abstract concerns a discussion paper rather than a specific study, please give details of the rationale and direction of the discussion. It is not satisfactory, for example, to state: "this topic will be discussed in detail"
The abstract must not exceed 250 words - excluding the title, author(s) name(s), address(es) (the system will stop you entering an excess)
When using abbreviations, spell out the full name on first mention. Avoid excessive use of abbreviationsIf for publication, the abstract must not have been published elsewhere in abstract or other form
Please have also have a brief bio for the presenting author to include with your submission.
Please note also that all accepted authors must register and pay for registration to attend the Summer Scientific Meeting.

Closing date for receipt of abstracts is strictly 4pm on 10 April 2018.
