The Royal College of Physicians of Ireland achieved formal accreditation from Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI) in June 2022.
This is a landmark moment for the College, cementing our strategic commitment to offer formal professional accreditation across our programmes. With the first of our courses accredited, we are working on QQI accreditation for a number of other programmes and will increasingly be able to offer post-graduate level 9 qualifications as part of continuous professional development.
This also means our accredited programmes will be recognized under the European Transfer System, empowering graduates to explore international opportunities across their careers.
A new suite of postgraduate certificates, which equal 30 ECTS credits, will be rolled out over the coming months, covering a range of specialties.
Professor Mary Horgan, President of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland welcomed the news, acknowledging the College’s ongoing commitment to providing world leading educational opportunities for physicians and other healthcare professionals in a constantly evolving healthcare environment.
“QQI accreditation is a signal to the healthcare community of the rigour, relevance and clinical excellence of programmes offered by the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland. We work closely with national and international partners and respond to feedback from our learners and the teaching faculty, as well as changing trends in medical education, to ensure our clinically-led education programmes are continually updated to meet the demands of the sector.”
