Trainee Awards: Shortlist for 2014 BST case study award announced

The shortlist for this year's Corrigan Medal has been announced

Congratulations to the following doctors in Basic Specialist Training, who will be presenting their case studies at the Collegiate Members Committee's annual research and innovation awards ceremony on Thursday 16th October, 5pm.

  • Dr Neidin Bussmann, Cork University Maternity Hospital and Cork University Hospital - Mosaic Edwards Syndrome in Monozygotic live-born Twins: An Unconventional Diagnosis
  • Dr Fergus Keane, Galway University Hospital and Sligo Regional Hospital - Adding fuel to the fire
  • Dr Louise Rabbitt, Galway University Hospital - "What shot JR?" - Paraneoplastic ocular flutter

The Corrigan Medal is our annual BST case study competition. It recognises excellence in communication - the ability to identify complicating and challenging aspects of patient histories and communicate what we can learn from them. The winning trainee will receive the Corrigan Medal, named after our Past-President (1859 – 1863) Sir Dominic Corrigan, and an educational grant worth €1,000.

The Collegiate Members Committee's annual awards ceremony is always a very enjoyable occasion. It's a great opportunity to meet other trainees, hear about fantastic case studies and research projects carried out by doctors in BST and HST, and enjoy a few refreshments in the refined surroundings of 6 Kildare Street.

All are welcome, however places are limited, so don't leave it too late to book.
