The RCPI Heritage Centre is running a series of private guided tours this autumn and winter.
These tours are exclusively held for Trainees, Licentiates, Members and Fellows of the College and its Faculties/Institute and are free of charge. They are a great way to learn about Irish cultural and artistic exhibitions as each tour is limited to a small number of people and is led by professional curators and archivists at off-peak times.
We are now taking bookings for the following tours:
To book your place on any (or all) of these tours, simply send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org
Thanks to everyone who attended the Heritage Centre’s cultural visits during the spring and summer this year and made them such a success!
The Dublin Hospitals’ Rugby Cup has a long and interesting history which lies at the very heart of Irish Rugby. The longest running rugby cup competition in Ireland, many Hospitals’ Cup players went on to represent Ireland and the Lions. Dublin hospital medical students hold the distinction of captaining Ireland to their first Triple Crown and grand slam successes.
Drs Con Feighery, Michael Farrell and Morgan Crowe will deliver a public lecture on the history of the Dublin Hospitals' Rugby Cup in No.6 Kildare St at 7pm on Thursday 3 October 2019 (the evening of the Ireland vs. Russia RWC19 Pool game)
The lecture, which will be based on research into the competition carried out over the last two years by the three doctors, will focus on the many famous hospitals, most now closed, that participated as well as the colourful personalities on and off the pitch. It will draw together the incidents and controversies which have marked the competition's unique contribution to Dublin medicine and to Irish Rugby.
The lecture will conclude at 8.30pm and will be followed by a reception in RCPI. There will also be an opportunity to view photographs and other memorabilia relating to the competition.
